Independence trail- If you are getting restless in the car, stop at the Independence scenic view point and take
the Independence trail. The trail is a 6 mile loop and is not reccomended for beginner hikers, children, out of
shape dogs, or the elderly as the incline can be steep and the path narrow. On a clear day the views are
incredible. Mt. Adams, Mt. St. Helens, and Mt. Ranier are all visible from this trail. The views are incredible during
nice weather. Caution: remember the sun screen and sun shades as there is little to no shade on this trail.
Windy Ridge- Windy Ridge is as far you can drive this side of Mt. St. Helens. It makes a great scenic place for
your packed lunch. After lunch climb the 429 steps to the observation deck with great views of Spirit Lake, Mt.
St. Helens, Mt. Hood, and Mt. Adams.
